OSU Lab Tests
Ohio
State University Medical Center’s Clinical
Laboratory needed a secure system for scheduling
and reviewing the results of blood tests. Further,
the Laboratory wanted to allow individuals who
had blood
drawn to view their own profiles anonymously. RainStorm,
Inc.
worked with the OSU Medical Center to develop a
website that is both efficient and accessible,
and meets the needs of staff and patients alike.

- Interested individuals in the central Ohio region can schedule and securely purchase blood test profiles and arrange to have blood drawn at one of six collection centers.
- Once
the blood test is processed by Ohio State University
Medical Center’s Clinical Laboratory, the
results are uploaded to our servers. A
scheduled process imports the new data into an
existing database.
- Individuals
who had their blood drawn return to the website
and login anonymously and securely with their
medical record number and randomly assigned password. They
are provided with the option to view either their
most recent profile or past profiles (if applicable).
- Testing
results are displayed in a visually
appealing format and alert messages are clearly
displayed for individuals with
critical
results. If not all of the results are calculated,
a note is displayed telling the individual to
check back in 24 – 48 hours for
complete results.
- A
back-end administration section was developed
for members of OSU Medical
Center to view test results by medical record
number. They can create a printable version of
the test as well as check when the individual
viewed their profile last.
