I keep getting copies of the same email messages over and over again, how do I prevent this?
This is typically cause by your email program checking for mail too often. It starts up a new process to check for mail before the old process has finished. This overlap causes mail to be downloaded multiple times. The best way to prevent duplicate emails is to set your automatic send/receive settings to 15 minutes or greater.
Setting automatic send/receive in Outlook:
- Click the "Tools" menu, then click "Options."
- A new dialog box appears. Click the tab at the top labeled "Mail Setup"
- Click the button labeled "Send/Receive..."
- A new window appears. In this window, click the checkbox labeled "Schedule an automatic send/receive every..." Then type a suitable time interval in the white box to the right. (We recommend 15 minutes or more.)
- Save the setting by click the button labeled "Close." This returns you to the previous window. Click "OK" to finish.
